Privacy Policy
Burgos Law Group (Carlos Eduardo Burgos Gonzalez Law Group PLLC) (“Burgos Law Group”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to:
- our website, burgoslawgroup.com (the “Website”);
- our secure client portal, “Mi Caso” / “My Case” (the “Portal”); and
- the online tools we use to serve our clients, such as questionnaires, electronic signature, payment links and case-status updates (together with the Website and the Portal, the “Services”).
This policy does not replace the duty of confidentiality we owe our clients. Information you share with us to obtain legal advice is also protected by the attorney-client privilege and by the rules of professional conduct that govern our attorneys. If you become a client, your engagement agreement also applies.

2. Information We Collect on the Website
The Website is informational. It has no user accounts, no contact forms and no newsletter sign-up.
- No analytics or advertising trackers. The Website does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies, and does not set cookies of its own.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical data when any web page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. These logs are used for security and to keep the Website working, and are kept for a limited time.
- Tools you choose to use. Some buttons take you to services run by other companies, which have their own privacy policies:
- “Book a consultation” opens our scheduling page on Setmore.
- “WhatsApp” opens a chat with us on WhatsApp (Meta). Any message you send is received by our office.
- Office addresses open Google Maps.
- “Leave us a review” opens our Google Business profile.
- Google reviews. The reviews section may load our public Google reviews directly from Google. When it does, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser information under Google’s privacy policy.
- Calls and messages. If you call, text or write to us, we receive your phone number or email and what you tell us.
Please do not send confidential details of your case through the Website, WhatsApp or email before you speak with us. Contacting us does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship (see our Terms of Use).
3. Information We Collect When You Consult with Us or Become a Client
To evaluate and handle an immigration matter, we collect the information the matter requires, which may include:
- Identity and contact details: name, date and place of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email.
- Immigration information: citizenship, A-Number, USCIS receipt numbers, visa and travel history, prior applications, court and hearing information.
- Family information: spouses, children, parents and other relatives who are part of, or relevant to, the case — including minors, whose information we receive from a parent or guardian.
- Sensitive information, only when the case requires it: criminal history, health information, information about persecution, abuse or victimization, employment and tax records, financial information.
- Documents you give us, such as identity documents, certificates, evidence and government notices.
- Billing information: fees, payment plans and payment history. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor; we do not store full card or account numbers.
4. Information We Collect Through the Portal and Our Client Tools
4.1 Portal Sign-in
You sign in to the Portal with a six-digit code that we send to the email address registered for your case. We record sign-in attempts so we can protect your account. The Portal uses one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in; it is not used for tracking or advertising. Family members may see each other’s matters only when they share the same registered contact for the case.
4.2 Questionnaires and Documents
The Portal lets you answer questionnaires, review the status of your case, and see which documents are pending. What you enter or upload becomes part of your client file.
4.3 Electronic Signature
We send engagement agreements and other documents for signature through an electronic-signature provider. It receives your name, email and the document to be signed, and records the signing.
4.4 Payments
Payments are processed by our payment processor through secure links. The processor receives the payment details you enter and tells us whether the payment succeeded.
4.5 Interview Practice Sessions
We may offer a practice session with a virtual interviewer to help you prepare for an interview or hearing. The session uses your camera and microphone through a video-avatar provider. We keep only a written coaching report for your attorney. Only if you give separate written consent before the session, the report may describe observable behavior to practice, such as appearing nervous when discussing a topic. We never use these sessions to judge whether you are telling the truth, and we do not create or store face geometry, voiceprints or any other biometric identifier or template.
5. Case Status Information from USCIS
When we represent you before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), we use the official USCIS Case Status API to check the status of the receipt numbers in your case. These checks:
- are made only for receipt numbers of active cases we represent, at most once a day;
- use only the receipt number to request the status that USCIS returns for that case;
- are used only to monitor your case and alert your legal team to changes;
- are visible only to the attorneys and staff working on your matter; and
- are never sold, shared for marketing, or used for any purpose other than your representation.
Case status shown to you or to our staff is for convenience. Official USCIS notices and correspondence always control. Our team may also review information in government portals as part of your case, always through an authorized representative’s own account.
6. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- evaluate your matter and provide legal services;
- prepare, file and track applications, petitions and court matters;
- communicate with you about your case, appointments and payments;
- bill for our services and keep accurate trust and accounting records;
- protect the security of our systems and prevent fraud or misuse; and
- meet our legal and professional obligations, including record-keeping and conflict checks.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
We use artificial-intelligence tools to help our team organize documents, check forms for inconsistencies and prepare drafts. These tools are provided under business agreements that do not allow the provider to use our clients’ information to train its models. An attorney or member of our legal team reviews the work, and the tools do not make decisions about your case. Where documentation is missing, our process marks the item for your confirmation instead of filling it in.
7. Who We Share Information with
We share personal information only as needed to represent you and run our practice:
- Government agencies and courts, such as USCIS, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), the Department of State, and other agencies, as part of filings and proceedings you authorize.
- Service providers that process information for us under confidentiality obligations, for example:
- website hosting: Vercel;
- secure database for our case system and Portal: Supabase;
- email delivery of Portal codes: Resend;
- email: Google Workspace;
- document storage: Dropbox;
- practice management and accounting: CosmoLex;
- payment processing: LawPay;
- electronic signature: SignWell;
- artificial intelligence: Anthropic;
- interview practice sessions: Tavus;
- scheduling: Setmore.
- Others involved in your matter, such as translators, interpreters, co-counsel, experts or opposing parties, when your case requires it.
- When the law requires it, such as a valid court order or subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our clients, staff or others, always consistent with our professional duties.
- With your consent for any other purpose.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep client files, including information gathered through the Portal, for as long as needed to represent you and then for the period required by the rules governing attorneys and trust accounting, which is at least seven (7) years after the matter closes. Portal sign-in codes expire after a short time. Website server logs are kept for a limited time. When information is no longer needed, we delete or archive it securely.
9. How We Protect Information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections, role-based access so staff see only what their work requires, and records of sensitive actions. No system is completely secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Your Choices and Rights
You may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate; or
- delete information we no longer need, unless we must keep it for legal or professional reasons.
Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. To make a request, contact us using section 1. We will verify your identity before acting on the request, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
11. Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through it. Immigration cases often include minors; in those cases we receive the child’s information from a parent or legal guardian as part of the representation.
12. Where Information Is Stored
Our Services are operated from the United States, and the database for our case system and the Portal is hosted in the United States. Some of our service providers may process information in other locations, under their own security and privacy commitments.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our Services change. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes affecting clients, tell clients through the Portal or by email.
14. Language
This policy may be provided in Spanish for convenience. If there is a difference between versions, the English version controls.
